Our Story
A Piece of Home in Edmonton
PiKanté is owned and operated by Pamela ("Pam") and Ken, a husband-and-wife team who bring their personal Latin American roots into the kitchen. Ken is from Oaxaca, Mexico, and Pamela is from Guatemala. Together, they set out to share a "piece of home" with their Edmonton community.
The name "PiKanté" reflects their personal story. In Spanish, "picante" means spicy, but they chose to spell it with a P and K to embed the first letters of their names — Pam and Ken — directly into the brand. What began as a market venture has become one of Bountiful Farmers' Market's most loved food stalls.
Pam and Ken make all of their products themselves, from salsas and guacamole to slow-simmered meats. They avoid preservatives and focus on real ingredients, offering a menu that naturally includes many gluten-free and vegan items. Ken's traditional Oaxacan mole takes a full day to prepare, toasted, blended, and simmered until it reaches the deep flavour profile he remembers from home.
